Artist Statement

I collect pieces of scrap paper, old magazines, books and miscellaneous detritus to make my collage work. Each image is disjointed; incorporating views of nature, industry and large swatches of color that are poetically arranged into nostalgic compositions. My goal is to share an insight into my experiences of travel, loss, and love.

John Paul Gardner received his Master of Fine Art from the University of Oregon and his Bachelor of Fine Art from the State University of New York College at Potsdam. Gardner is a prolific multi-media artist. He has received numerous awards, grants and recognitions for his work. Gardner’s mixed media collage work is in many private and public collections and is currently represented by Cureeo Gallery. A recent highlight includes JP’s first large scale Museum installation at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center.
