The River
Artist Statement
These are photographs of the Hudson River (the “North River” section), which restlessly lies between (west of) Manhattan and (east of) New Jersey. The photographs explore the restless appearance of the river, resulting from changing river currents, tides, lighting, weather, human intervention, etc.
A (retired) legal evidence photographer, Bob Walden believes all photographs are evidence photographs; none actually document reality, they all represent it. The true meaning of any photograph lies behind the eye of the viewer. Bob is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and the Orange Coast College (California) photography program.
