Help

[creative non-fiction]

Man: Honey, I really want to support you. I know it’s a lot with the kids and school and disinfecting the mail and everything.

Woman: Oh. Yes. Thanks! Actually, you could help with dinner. Or sanitizing the doorknobs and light switches. And the laundry—that would be great. There’s always a big pile of clothes right over there and you could just fold a few things when you have a few minutes.

Man: Okay (slips in earbuds). You just let me know (calling over shoulder as he exits). Whatever you need. I’m here for you.
