The Suburbs
A lot of black people live [here]
And they – got big houses
And the houses all look kind of
the same
And they – got
big yards
And they –
got driveways
And everybody
got they own car
And they –
got bay windows
And
chandelier lighting
And
entryway staircases
And they –
got security systems
And they –
kids go to private schools
And have sweet sixteens
And they –
kids are star athletes
And they –
kids score 1500+ on the SATs
And they –
not the first person in
they family to go to college
And they –
wave at they black neighbors
And they –
go to see black doctors
And they –
buy from black grocers
And give dollars to
black homeless people
And they drive over black potholes filled by
Black construction workers
And attend PTA meetings
lead by black principles
And they –
get stopped by black cops
And still…
And still [we] are not safe.
